The New Bulbul Tarang (aka The Indian Banjo) is a 15 string instrument commonly found in India and Pakistan. The instrument employs three sets of strings – a double set of melodic strings and two sets of drone strings – that also function as part resonators. The New Bulbul Tarang is most commonly played with a guitar like strum.
The melodic strings contains a bass- and treble string. We deep-sampled both of strings individually and combined with multiple velocity layers on each string and round robin on the sustains. We programmed the The New Bulbul Tarang, so you have full control over each string.
The drone strings are divided into group of 10 and group of 3. We deep sampled these guys too at multiple velocity layers and 10 round robin pr. layer.
The New Bulbul Tarang by 8Dio also contains a variety of other deep-sampled articulations, including drone strings in both minor and major scales, muted notes on melodic strings, tremolo, trills and a wide assortment of FX. Additionally we also added a large phrase collection to the library focused on strums. The strums comes both as multi-samples and as phrase-samples, so you can create the ideal soundscape depending on your needs.

Front-Faced FX and Chaos FX
Bulbul Tarang contains two parallel FX systems. The first one is our new Front-Faced FX, which allows you to control the most fundamental effects from the front panel (ex. Step Based Filtering, Pitch, Delay, and our new Textural Delay). You can also go deeper with our Chaos FX system, which includes, Phase Modulation, EQ, Bit-Crusher, Distortion, Dual Delays and an additional hall based convolution system on top of our custom Textural Convolution Delays.
Convolution That Sync's
Textural Convolution Delay is a new way of using convolution to create textural delays. The idea is to use non-conventional convolution impulses to augment the existing sound. So when the instrument delays – you will not just get a normal delay of the instrument, but also get the delay and texture of the convolution. This concept is called Textural Convolutions, and with dozens of hand-crafted impulses included and ready, this technique is a sure fire way to add depth and movement to a sound. As with many of our inbuilt effects, these can also be randomized.
